How blogging saved my life {Part 1}

I never read a blog prior to March of 2011.

But after my crashing and burning last year, I started counseling, and began to scour the internet for answers to my weekly “assignments.”

My searching led me to me to two blogs.

Two blogs, but really two women that walked with me, encouraged me, and saw me through one of the hardest years of my life.

This is about one of them.

Meet Jeanne Oliver.

Have you ever had an image, a word, speak to your soul?

t

Have you ever had a piece of art move you to tears?

Have you ever read someone else’s words and know in your heart they were written just for you?

Have you ever felt understood and been encouraged by someone you didn’t know?

This is what Jeanne Oliver {and her blog & art} was to me.

I showed up at her blog every day.

To anyone else, her posts might have seemed ordinary, but her words were exactly what I needed to hear.

Her words were honest. She was the real deal… funny, thoughtful, and most importantly, encouraging.

It was like she was whispering ever so gently, “You can do this, Amber… You were created to create… Make time for it… it will bless not only you, but your family too… Even when you think you can’t, just show up.”

She helped carefully unlock the creative door that had been slammed shut so many years ago.

Without her ever knowing, her blog saved my life (OK, that might be a little dramatic, but it helped me climb out of the pit I had been stuck in for so long).

And for that, I am truly thankful.

It was no accident that I found her blog, and because of that, she is kinda the reason I started blogging.

My hope is always that whoever needs to find this blog, will find it…and it won’t be on accident. And that hopefully some of the words on this site would be an encouragement to you while traveling on your own journey… And maybe even bring you a few smiles and give you a few laughs :) Cause it’s no fun to be serious for too long!

I forgot to mention that Jeanne is really funny too! You know, it’s like she’s a real person…ha! imagine that!

Oh, and by the way, her name is Jeanne, as is Jean, not Jeannie or Jennie or any other variation you come up with. I didn’t know this until I took an e-course from her in which she said, “Hi, my name is Jean(ne).” And then I was like “what?” It was kinda weird because for almost an entire year I had been calling her Jeannie….in my head.

So, now you know, it’s just Jeanne. You’re welcome.

You can find all the prints shown above and her other artwork & designs here.

P.S. I really hope this post doesn’t sound too crazy-blogger-stalker-ish. I think that can happen on these interwebs. It’s like you feel like you know someone, but you really don’t. That’s why I don’t think I could ever meet her in real life. It would be way too weird, right?
