What my son & The President have in common

After school today, my 5 1/2 year old son comes flying through the door:

Son: Mommy, mommy I got to vote at school today!

Me: You did? How fun! Who’d you vote for?

Son: Mooomm, who, I would alllways vote for… (like duh!)

Me: umm, Barack Obama?

Son: Yeeeeeessssss!!! (throwing his hands up, jumping up & down)

Me:  Why did you vote for him?

Son: Because he starts with the same name as me! O’Rocco Bama!

Me:  Wow! That’s awesome! So who was the other person you could vote for?

Son: Mitt Romneyhood. We got to choose for two peoples. You choose for Mitt Romneyhood or for O’Rocco Bama. And so I choosed O’Rocco Bama cause we have the same name!

He seriously thinks it is the coolest thing that he has the “same name” as the President of the United States.  And I don’t have the heart to tell him otherwise.

And I have no idea where he got Romneyhood from!

  2. It is probably a little too early to have the talk about how we shouldn’t vote based on name, color, gender, race, religion. That is really cute, and your son probably doesn’t find too many people with his same name:-) I would be excited too!
