long distance relationships bite.

Weekdays without him.

Weekends with him.

This is my new normal.

Thank goodness we are married because if we weren’t, this relationship probably wouldn’t last past Labor Day {Columbus Day if he’s lucky}.

He’s off saving lives and fixing hearts and I’m here wiping butts and trying to save myself.

I’d say it’s about even.

{We are currently taking donations for my children’s therapy funds if you would like to donate. They thank you in advance.}

So just a bit ago: he’s on his way up from B’ham right now and we’re talking on the phone. Blah blah blah. Or really, he’s talking to me…. cause I’m kinda distracted….

Remember, the whole, we-are-so-distracted-and-need-to-be-present-and listen-to-one-another-so-they-feel-loved thing?

Well, he totally called me out on it!

I can text all day and night, but get me on the phone and I will either zone out in front of the computer or TV. Usually the computer. And he knows it!

I need face to face conversations with him. Phone ones just don’t do it for me. Plus, my phone is dying so he sounds like he is talking out of a tin can. Eck. Unless I put him on speaker…for all the world to hear. Um, no.

So I am thankful.

That he is on his way home.

Thankful that this weekend includes an extra day.

And an extra night (date night maybe?).

Extra time to love on the kids and love on moi.

Thankful to see his face. In front of mine.

And thankful for toes in bed :)

And thankful for Corn Nuts!

When’s the last time you saw these bad boys?!

Thanks jennifer! i seriously don’t know how couples do the long distance dating thing! i could never!

  3. Zach and I do much better with face time too. The summer he was in Huntsville was flat out traumatic for both of us. You do what you have to do, but sometimes it leaves scars. I am not envious of what you are having to do right now. *hug*
