Tweet Tweet {I feel old}

Five Minute Friday with Lisa-Jo: unedited, no over-thinking or back tracking.

Write for 5 minutes on the word: CONNECT

Ready…set…write….

Ok. I’ve done it. I joined twitter.

I had to, really. There was a group of people that I needed to connect with and it seemed the only way to do it, was on twitter.

So I signed up and tweeted my first tweet. Or is it twittered my first twitter? Or tweeted my first twit?

Trying to connect with people and navigate through @symbols and #hashtags is probably how my mom feels when she tries to operate the VCR DVD player. No joke.

But I know once I get familiar it, it will either be another great way to make friends  and communicate instantly, or will become a huge distraction for me. Knowing this ahead of time, I need to be careful and wise how I proceed. Gotta make sure I don’t have another Facebook incident.

But I am truly fascinated that my kids are growing up in an age where borders and oceans hold no boundaries to the connections and friendships they will be able to form and grow.

They will have no idea what it was like “when I was growing up”… man, I feel old.

Like the other day when I was taking my kids to school… my daughter started complaining that she left her water bottle home.

Me: It’s not a big deal, sweetie. We didn’t carry water bottles around when I was growing up. We just drank from the drinking fountains.

Her: What? They had drinking fountains when you were growing up?

Seriously?!

Connect with me on Twitter! @AmberZaccagni

My 15 year old niece saw a rotary phone somewhere and didn’t know how to dial it! My 5 year old niece didn’t even know what a “home phone” was. Times are not only changing, but they are changing so fast!

You will find yourself a pro at Twitter in no time! It’s super easy and fun to use. And once you start learning how to upload pictures, you’ll be hooked! But not as time consuming or “addictive” as Facebook can be. Love the cuffs, by the way!!

  6. Cute story about your daughter at the end. :)
I joined twitter about a year ago – I still don’t think I really like it most of the time. I don’t get it. But it does let me connect w/ some other people.

    Visiting from Gypsy Mama’s Blog.

I have 2 younger cousins that are 10 and 20 years younger than I am and they are constantly amazed at the things that are different from my childhood to theirs. They don’t know who Dennis the Menace is, that one made me sad. It is crazy to think HOW MUCH things have changed in such a short amount of time.

    • Amber says:

Who doesn’t know Dennis the Menace! ;) I let my kids watch some of the older shows and cartoons just so I can watch them again :) Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve had a Twitter account for four years since I began blogging. I think I only auto-post my bog there. I really don’t know how to incorporate one more social network into my life. I gasped the other day when I visited my Twitter page and saw a bunch of reposts and mentions.

I JUST joined Twitter, too! I was super leary as well, but now I’m all over it…more than Facebook or other similar websites. It’s fun to follow fellow bloggers, friends and even some celebs!

You’ll love it. I’ll find you and we can follow eachother. :)
